TITLE : STUDY ON EMISSION CONTROL USING ELECTROLYTIC COATING IN EXHAUST PIPE OF FOUR STROKE SI ENGINE
ABSTRACT :

Emission of four stroke SI engine is strongly dependent on intake, degree of combustion and exhaust systems. Careful modification of any of the above system will drastically reduce the emission as well as improve the performance and life of the engine. The basic exhaust system is described with respect to the four stroke single cylinder SI engine and it is modified for betterment of emission control. The modification includes electrolytic coating of a base material and addition of fins in the inner wall of the exhaust pipe. In this research paper the various base materials were coated inside in exhaust pipes and emission gases are studied. The modified exhaust pipes were found to be reducing the major engine out pollutants like HC, CO and NOx. Among the many electrolytic coated exhaust pipes, the adaptable exhaust pipe is determined experimentally.
