ABSTRACT :

Geospatial technology is being widely used for the assessment of natural resources. The present paper deals with the usage of geospatial technology for the estimation of surface runoff on a watershed basis. The Kombai micro watershed of Vaigai basin covers 64.08 Sq.Km. The assessment of surface runoff is much necessary before taking up any kind of conservation measures. The Soil Conservation Services (SCS) method has been employed to assess the surface runoff from the micro watershed. The remote sensing data products has been used to prepare the land use and soil layers. The GIS has been used to integrate the thematic layers to estimate the surface runoff based onCNvalues.
